Wuzhen Town, in Tongxiang City, Zhejiang Province, has a history of more than 1,200 years. This ancient town is attracting more and more tourists from all over the world with its picturesque waterside sceneries and its well-preserved Ming-Qing dynasty buildings. Much of the fame of the town can be attributed to Mao Dun, a great master of contemporary Chinese literature. Mao has described his hometown with great warmth and love in several of his novels, and his former residence is preserved here. Wuzhen is embraced by the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal with rivers and canals crisscrossing the whole town. The flowing water and the arched stone bridges make up a charming scene.
