(2019·全国卷Ⅱ)It's about 250 miles from the hills of west­central Iowa to Ehlers' home in Minnesota. During the long trip home, following a weekend of hunting, Ehlers __1__ about the small dog he had seen __2__ alongside the road. He had __3__ to coax () the dog to him but, frightened, it had __4__.
