Before the Spring Festival, people purchase as many food as possible, preparing for the family dinner on the eve as well as the following days. Another tradition is to put up couplets on each side of the door, expressing the best wishes. Of course, setting off firecrackers on the very night of the eve and the next morning is also a must, which is the most important for people in the past. As a rule, people are supposed to visit their friends and relatives, exchanging their greetings. Meanwhile, they usually give red packets to each other's children.
